Vocational & Technical Scholarships
Vocational and Technical Education Scholarships are funded through the generosity of the Members of the Horatio Alger Association.
SCHOLARSHIPS
Vocational & Technical Education Scholarships
Award Amount: 25 scholarships at $3,000 each
The Vocational & Technical Education Scholarships are awarded to eligible students across all provinces and territories in Canada.
- Have completed high school (or earned high school equivalency credential) by July 1
- Applying or enrolled for Fall 2024 in a vocational or technical certificate program at a government or not-for-profit institution with direct pathways to employment
- Demonstrated critical financial need ($65,000 or less annual net income per family are required)
- Demonstrated perseverance in overcoming adversity
- Be under the age of 35
- Be a Canadian citizen
The application for Horatio Alger Vocational and Technical Education Scholarship is open annually from March 15 until June 15.
Crown Lift Vocational & Technical Education Scholarships
Award Amount: 3 scholarships at $3,000 each
The Crown Lift Vocational & Technical Education Scholarships are awarded to eligible students across all provinces and territories in Canada.
- Have completed high school (or earned high school equivalency credential) by July 1
- Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a certificate, or diploma program at a government or not-for-profit institution in one of the following fields:
- Business administration
- Construction trades
- Engineering
- Graphic design
- Manufacturing/Production/Welding
- Sales/Marketing
- Not be enrolled in pre-requisite courses
- Demonstrate critical financial need ($65,000 or less annual income per family are required)
- Be under the age of 35
- Be a Canadian citizen
The application for the Horatio Crown Lift Scholarship is open annually from March 15 until June 15.
Horatio Alger Seaspan VTE Scholarships
Award Amount: 55 scholarships at $3,400 each
The Seaspan VTE Scholarships are awarded to eligible students in British Columbia.
- Have completed high school (or earned high school equivalency credential) by July 1
- Be enrolled or applying for a course that leads to a 3 years or less career or technical degree/certificate program at a not-for-profit institution in Fall 2024 that will lead to employment
- Demonstrate critical financial need ($100,000 or less annual net income per family is required)
- Demonstrate perseverance in overcoming adversity
- Be under the age of 35
- Be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident
The application for the Horatio Alger Seaspan VTE is open annually from March 15 until June 15.
Receiving this scholarship helped to ease the financial pressures of being a starving student and allowed me more time to focus on my studies. I am happy to say that I graduated with a diploma of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Category M with honors, and am currently working my dream job in helicopter maintenance.
