Horatio Alger Award
Each year, one individual from Canada receives the International Horatio Alger Award, which is presented by the Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans Inc. at a ceremony in Washington, D.C.
Winners of the International Horatio Alger Award become lifelong Members of the Horatio Alger Association of Canada and support Canadian students through post-secondary scholarships. They serve as role models to Canadian youth, inspiring them by example and enabling them to achieve professional and personal fulfillment through higher education.
All potential Members must have overcome humble beginnings or later-life adversity to achieve success. They must also have a strong philanthropic commitment and be willing to contribute to the Association’s mission, which includes providing scholarships for highly motivated young people who face economic challenges and other adversities.
